No “active” M.Bovis properties in Waikato and Manawatu

The latest report from MPI records that Nationally, the number of Active properties as at 31 May 2019 is 43. None of these are located in Manawatu or Waikato regions.

All Active properties are under quarantine controls. These controls restrict the movement of stock and equipment on and off those farms to contain the disease. Active properties have yet to be depopulated, cleaned, and have their restrictions lifted.

From 1 June 2019 Dairy Farmers will start paying a Biosecurity Response Levy of up to 3.9 cents/kg milksolids to meet the dairy sector share of the overall response. The actual quantum of the levy for 2019/20 has yet to be set, and there will be at least 30 days notice given before being collected
